The Walmart Team Lead Assessment: Questions, Answers and Results

The Walmart team lead assessment is the online test for hourly team lead and team supervisor jobs. Walmart's status page calls it the Teaming Employment Assessment, and it is separate from the hourly associate test. Candidates describe leadership scenarios, scheduling and delegation questions with some math and charts, and agree-or-disagree statements about how you lead. It takes about 15-25 minutes, per candidates. A pass shows as "Competitive" with an expiry date, from about 6 months to 2 years or more out, and a later date means a stronger result. OphyAI Customer Service helps live or in practice.

Walmart's own pages cover applying and timing, checked November 6, 2026, but say nothing about this test. Rows marked as candidate reports come from Reddit posts by associates and applicants from 2022 to 2026, and a shared capture of Walmart's status page. Walmart can change the test at any time.

Walmart team lead assessment question types

Walmart does not publish its question formats. These are the ones associates and applicants describe, explained in our own words.

Leadership scenarios

A situation on your team, such as a rule being broken, two associates in conflict or a safety problem, with several responses. You pick the best one or rank them from best to worst.

Tip: Candidates say firm, fair action wins: talk to the associate directly, follow policy and document it. For serious problems, pick the answer that brings in a salaried manager.

Delegation and scheduling

A list of tasks with deadlines or hours, and a few associates with their schedules. You choose who does what. One candidate described picking between 4 associates for a task based on who works that day.

Tip: Rule out anyone who is not working first, then match task hours to the time each person has left. Keep scratch paper for the math.

Charts and prioritization

Candidates mention reading graphs and balancing workloads, such as deciding what your team does first when time is short.

Tip: Do what is due soonest and what affects customers or safety first. Read the chart's labels and units before you look at the bars.

Statements about how you lead

A long set of statements you rate from strongly disagree to strongly agree, plus some self-ratings. The same idea comes back in different words. One candidate called this the most important section.

Tip: Decide once how you lead and answer every version the same way. Candidates say middle answers look indecisive, and to rate yourself high but not perfect.

Walmart team lead assessment example questions and answers

Written by us in the formats candidates describe, never copied from the real test. Try each one before you read the answer.

Example 1 · Rank the responses

An associate on your team keeps checking their phone on the sales floor while customers wait for help. You have mentioned it once already.

Rank these from best to worst.

  1. ATalk to them privately today, restate the phone policy, write down the conversation and check back later in the week.
  2. BLet it go. They are usually a good worker.
  3. CTell the whole team at the next huddle that phone use will be reported.
  4. DReport it to your coach right away without talking to the associate again.

Best to worst: A, D, C, B.

A deals with it directly, follows policy and leaves a record, which is what a lead is expected to do. D is too fast but still acts. C calls out one person in front of everyone, and B ignores a repeat problem.

Example 2 · Delegation

Four hours are left in the shift. Tasks: pick online orders (2 hours), stock aisle 5 (3 hours), zone the front (1 hour), price changes (2 hours). Ana has 4 hours left, Ben has 3 and Cal has 1.

Which plan gets everything done?

  1. AAna: online orders and price changes. Ben: stock aisle 5. Cal: zone the front.
  2. BAna: stock aisle 5. Ben: online orders. Cal: price changes.
  3. CAna: online orders. Ben: price changes and zone the front. Cal: stock aisle 5.
  4. DAna: stock aisle 5 and zone the front. Ben: online orders. Cal: price changes.

Answer: A.

A uses exactly 4, 3 and 1 hours. B and D give Cal a 2-hour task in 1 hour, and C gives Cal a 3-hour task. Check each person's hours before you look at anything else.

Example 3 · Prioritization

Two associates called out. A truck arrives at 2pm, online pickup orders are due at 3pm, and the weekly endcap reset is due by close.

What do you move to later?

  1. AThe online pickup orders, since the customers can wait.
  2. BUnloading the truck, since it can sit at the dock.
  3. CThe endcap reset, and tell your coach about the gap.
  4. DNothing. Ask everyone to work faster.

Best response: C.

Customer orders have a fixed time and the truck brings the stock you need, so the reset is the task that can move. Telling your coach keeps them informed about the staffing gap. D ignores the problem.

Example 4 · Best response

Two associates start arguing loudly near the registers about who should cover a break. Customers are watching.

What would you do?

  1. ALet them sort it out themselves.
  2. BStep in, move the talk somewhere private, hear each side, decide the coverage and follow up later.
  3. CTell both of them they are getting written up.
  4. DCover the break yourself so the argument stops.

Best response: B.

B stops the scene in front of customers, treats both people fairly and still solves the coverage problem. A and D avoid the conflict, and C punishes before you know what happened.

Example 5 · Best response

You see a new associate using an electric pallet jack. You know they have not finished the training for it.

What would you do?

  1. AWatch them for a few minutes to see if they handle it well.
  2. BStop them right away, move them to another task, tell your coach and get the training scheduled.
  3. CShow them the controls yourself so they can keep going.
  4. DMention it at the end of the shift.

Best response: B.

Safety and training rules come first, and B fixes the risk now and the cause after. A and D leave the danger in place, and C skips the required training.

Example 6 · Agree or disagree

Statement: "I am comfortable telling a teammate their work needs to be redone."

How much do you agree?

  1. AStrongly disagree
  2. BDisagree
  3. CNeither agree nor disagree
  4. DAgree
  5. EStrongly agree

Strongest answer: Strongly agree.

A lead has to give direct feedback. Expect the reverse later, such as a statement about avoiding hard conversations, and answer that one strongly disagree to stay consistent.

Example 7 · Agree or disagree

Statement: "When my team has a problem, I usually wait to see if it works itself out."

How much do you agree?

  1. AStrongly disagree
  2. BDisagree
  3. CNeither agree nor disagree
  4. DAgree
  5. EStrongly agree

Strongest answer: Strongly disagree.

Leads are expected to act early. A middle answer here reads as indecisive, which candidates say costs points on this section.

Example 8 · Self-rating

How would you rate your ability to plan your team's work for a shift?

  1. ABelow average
  2. BAverage
  3. CAbove average
  4. DAmong the best
  5. EThe very best

Strongest answer: Among the best.

A high rating shows confidence. Candidates suggest stopping one step short of "the very best," since it leaves room to grow. Keep similar self-ratings at the same level across the test.

How the Walmart team lead assessment is scored, and what happens next

Walmart publishes no passing score and does not explain how the assessment is scored. From candidate reports: a pass shows on your status page as "Competitive," along with a date when the result expires. The date is the clue to how well you did. Candidates say about 6 months is the lowest pass and about 2 years is a stronger one. One commenter in 2026 said a 2-year result also qualifies you for coach roles. Another said a "Competitive" result was still too low for the team lead job they wanted, so a pass is not a promise of an interview.

If you fail, you get no feedback on which section went wrong. A candidate-shared capture of the status page shows a failed Teaming Employment Assessment with a 30-day wait to retake it, and an outside applicant in October 2025 also reported 30 days. Another associate in 2026 said they had to wait 6 months to retake it after failing one part. Walmart publishes no rule, so check the date on your own status page.

After you finish, a screen confirms you completed the application and required assessments. Walmart says it tries to respond within a week and tells you if you are not selected for an interview. One candidate going for a deli team lead job said a food safety management test came next.

How to prepare for the Walmart team lead assessment

  1. Step 1

    Find the right test

Current associates: in OneWalmart, go to Career Portal, then Career Interests, and check a team lead opening. The assessment shows up on the job details screen. Ask your coach, too. Outside applicants get it inside the online application for a team supervisor posting.

  2. Step 2

    Learn the lead's playbook

Act early, talk to the associate directly, follow policy and document it. Put safety first, and bring in your coach for serious or repeated problems. That pattern answers most scenario questions.

  3. Step 3

    Practice the scheduling math

Work through the delegation and prioritization examples above. Rule out anyone not working, add up task hours, and handle deadlines and customer orders first. Keep scratch paper nearby.

  4. Step 4

Answer the statements firmly and consistently

The last section repeats ideas in new words. Decide once how you lead, choose clear agree or disagree answers, and check your status page for "Competitive" and the expiry date afterward.

Is the Walmart team lead assessment proctored or timed?

Walmart's hiring page mentions no webcam, proctor, ID check or screen recording for its assessments, and it does not name the company that builds the test. Candidates say current associates take it on the clock, while outside applicants take it at home as part of the online application.

Timing: Walmart publishes no time limit. Candidates report it takes about 15-25 minutes. Walmart also says you cannot change an application after you submit it, so read each question fully before you move on.

Walmart team lead assessment answers, AI help and cheating

Are there Walmart team lead assessment answers online?

Flashcard sets, answer pages and videos claim to have Walmart Teaming assessment answers, but Walmart publishes no answer key and gives no feedback after the test, so no one can confirm a list. Scenario details change from test to test. OphyAI Customer Service reads the exact question on your screen and shows the best answer in seconds.

Can AI help on the Walmart Teaming assessment?

Yes, on the scenario and statement parts. OphyAI Customer Service picks or ranks responses to leadership scenarios and keeps your agree-or-disagree answers consistent, live or in practice. It is not built for the scheduling, chart and math questions. It works in Chrome or Edge on a computer and in the Mac and Windows desktop app.

Can Walmart tell if you use AI on the team lead assessment?

Walmart's hiring page mentions no webcam, proctor or screen recording for its assessments, and it does not say what activity the test logs. In the OphyAI desktop app, answers show in a popup that macOS and Windows leave out of screen sharing and recording. It does not work inside lockdown or proctored browsers, it does not take typing-speed tests, and hiding a window from screen share does not hide it from a webcam, a person in the room, or proctoring software.

Share the test tab once in Chrome or Edge on a computer, or run it in the OphyAI desktop app for Mac and Windows. Each question is read as it appears and answered in seconds: the best response to a leadership scenario, the options ranked best first, or an agree-or-disagree choice kept consistent with your earlier answers. In the desktop app, answers show in a popup that macOS and Windows leave out of screen sharing and recording.

What it is not built for: the scheduling, chart and math questions, so work those out yourself. It needs your own computer and is not in the iPhone or Android apps. Want to practice first? The free 3-question sample needs only a free OphyAI account. Practice tests of 5, 10 or 20 original questions explain why each option is better or worse and end with a skills scorecard. Live sessions and practice tests are on the Premium plan ($59 a month, 500 credits): a live session uses 15 credits and stays open 2 hours, and a practice test uses 5.

Walmart team lead assessment questions

Walmart does not publish a time. Candidates report about 15-25 minutes, and one counted 6 sections. Plan for one quiet sitting.

If you work at Walmart, candidates say to open OneWalmart, go to Career Portal, then Career Interests, and check a team lead opening, even a future or closed one. The Teaming Employment Assessment then appears on the job details screen. Walmart says associates apply through the OneWalmart career site. Outside applicants get it in the online application for a team supervisor job.

Candidates say "Competitive" means you passed, and "Fail" or "Retake" means you did not. The expiry date next to it shows how strong the pass was: about 6 months is the lowest band, and 2 years or more is a stronger one. Walmart does not publish these bands.

Walmart publishes no rule. A shared status page capture and an October 2025 applicant both show 30 days after a fail, and another associate reported 6 months. If you passed with a short expiry, candidates say you can retake it after that date to try for a longer one.

The hourly associate test asks how you treat customers and coworkers. The team lead test adds what a lead does: handling team problems, scheduling and delegating work, reading charts, and more statements about how you lead. Both show on the same status page. Our Walmart assessment guide at ophyai.com/walmart-assessment covers the hourly test.

Walmart's store postings use "Team Supervisor" titles, while associates still say team lead, and Walmart does not name the test on its postings. Candidates applying to these jobs describe the Teaming Employment Assessment.

Walmart does not say. One associate in 2024 said "the coach test is a lot easier," which suggests a separate test, and another in 2026 said a 2-year Teaming result also counts for coach roles. Check your status page for the assessments listed under your interests.

Candidates who work at Walmart say yes, since it is work related. An outside hire said they took it from home. Ask your coach before you start.

No. Walmart says you cannot change an application after you submit it, and candidates say you get no feedback on which answers were wrong. Read every question fully before you move on.
