The Amazon Warehouse Assessment: Work Style, the Bin Test and Results

The Amazon warehouse assessment is a short online test inside the application for some Amazon hourly jobs, reported for fulfillment center and sort center associates. Amazon only says some job types ask for "a brief assessment." Candidates describe two parts: work style questions, where you pick which of two statements sounds more like you, and a "bin test," where you follow simple rules to put items in the right bin. After a fail, candidates report a 90-day wait to apply again. Most hourly roles have no interview. OphyAI Customer Service helps with the work style part, live or in practice.

Amazon warehouse assessment at a glance

Amazon's hourly hiring pages cover the application and next steps, checked November 6, 2026, but not the test itself. Rows marked as candidate reports come from r/AmazonFC posts from 2024 to 2026. Applying for a corporate or engineering job instead? That is a different test, covered in our Amazon OA guide.

What it isA short assessment inside the online application. Amazon says "You may be asked to complete a brief assessment for some job types"
Who gets itCandidate reports: Tier 1 warehouse, sort center and seasonal associates, rehires included. Not every site or role has it
PartsCandidate reports: work style questions (two statements, pick which is more like you), then a bin test of multiple choice questions with six answers
Application timeAmazon says the application takes about twenty minutes, or about an hour with picking your shift and pre-hire appointment. Finish within 3 hours or you may lose your shift
InterviewAmazon says most hourly roles have no interview. Delivery driver roles do
Your resultCandidate reports: no score is shown and you cannot review your answers. A fail comes as an email saying Amazon decided "not to move forward with your application"
After a failCandidate reports: a 3-month (90-day) wait before you can apply again. Amazon publishes no rule
After you passA contingent job offer, a background check, then an in-person pre-hire appointment and your first day ("Day 1")

Amazon warehouse assessment question types

Amazon does not publish the test. These are the parts candidates describe on r/AmazonFC, explained in our own words.

Work style pairs

Two statements about how you work, side by side. You choose which one sounds more like you and how strongly, from "more like me" to "most like me." Candidates call this step the questionnaire or the personality part.

Tip: Candidates who passed after failing say they leaned toward safety, accuracy, teamwork and owning mistakes. The same idea comes back in new words, so answer it the same way each time.

The bin test

Short questions about placing items in bins. You get a few rules, such as which codes go where, and pick the right bin from a list. One candidate counted about 8 bin questions, and another said each had six answer choices.

Tip: Read the rules again for every question and check each letter and number of a code. The test is about following instructions exactly, not speed.

Application questions

Questions about your work history, eligibility and shift. Amazon says the questions you answer during the application are part of what it reviews.

Tip: Answer accurately and fully. Amazon says it cannot give details on why an application was rejected, so there is no second chance to explain.

Process assistant (Tier 3) assessment

For associates applying to process assistant, a longer test. One candidate described ranking vendors from project emails, "most like me / least like me" statements, and listening to 3 audio clips (each playable twice) and recording a summary.

Tip: Take notes while each clip plays. The same candidate lost a response after stopping midway and could not replay the audio.

Amazon warehouse assessment example questions and answers

Written by us in the formats candidates describe, never copied from the real test. Try each one before you read the answer.

Example 1 · Work style pair

Statement A: "I keep working through a problem so the team hits its goal." Statement B: "I stop and report a safety problem, even if it slows the line."

Which is more like you?

  1. AA is most like me
  2. BA is more like me
  3. CB is more like me
  4. DB is most like me

Strongest answer: B is most like me.

Warehouse work puts safety ahead of speed, and candidates say safety-first picks matter most on this step. Both statements sound fine, which is the point: the test checks which one you put first.

Example 2 · Work style pair

Statement A: "When I make a mistake, I tell my lead right away." Statement B: "When I make a mistake, I fix it myself so no one has to deal with it."

Which is more like you?

  1. AA is most like me
  2. BA is more like me
  3. CB is more like me
  4. DB is most like me

Strongest answer: A is most like me.

Telling your lead lets them fix the cause and track the problem, like a mislabeled package that could affect other orders. Hiding a mistake, even with good intent, is the habit this kind of question screens out.

Example 3 · Work style pair

Statement A: "I like to know the exact steps for a task before I start." Statement B: "I like to find my own faster way to do a task."

Which is more like you?

  1. AA is most like me
  2. BA is more like me
  3. CB is more like me
  4. DB is most like me

Strongest answer: A is more like me, or most like me.

Warehouse jobs run on set steps for safety and accuracy, so following the process fits the job better than making up your own. Whatever you pick, pick the same side when a later pair asks about rules and process.

Example 4 · Bin test

Rules: codes that start with P go to Zone 1, and codes that start with R go to Zone 2. In each zone, items under 5 lb go on the top shelf and items of 5 lb or more go on the bottom shelf. Your item: R-4471, 7 lb.

Where does it go?

  1. AZone 1, top shelf
  2. BZone 1, bottom shelf
  3. CZone 2, top shelf
  4. DZone 2, bottom shelf
  5. ESend it to problem solve
  6. FNot enough information

Answer: Zone 2, bottom shelf.

The code starts with R, so Zone 2. It weighs 7 lb, which is 5 lb or more, so the bottom shelf. Apply one rule at a time and you rarely miss these.

Example 5 · Bin test

Your scanner says to stow item BX-2093-K in bin C14. The label on the bin in front of you reads C41.

What should you do?

  1. AStow it, the numbers are close enough
  2. BFind bin C14 and stow it there
  3. CStow it in C41 and tell your lead later
  4. DPut it back in the tote
  5. EAsk a coworker which bin to use
  6. FStow it in any open bin nearby

Answer: Find bin C14 and stow it there.

C14 and C41 use the same digits in a different order, which is the kind of detail these questions check. A wrong bin means a customer order cannot be found later.

Example 6 · Bin test

Rule: if your assigned bin is full, use the next empty bin to the right on the same shelf and scan both bins. Your item is assigned to bin D3, which is full. D4 has items in it, and D5 is empty.

Where does the item go?

  1. AD3, pushed in tight
  2. BD4
  3. CD5, and scan both D3 and D5
  4. DD5, with no extra scan
  5. EThe shelf below D3
  6. FBack to the tote

Answer: D5, and scan both D3 and D5.

D4 is not empty, so the next empty bin to the right is D5. The rule also says to scan both bins, so the answer that skips the scan is incomplete.

Example 7 · Process assistant style ranking

A project needs pallets delivered within 5 days for under $2,000, and a local vendor is preferred. Vendor X: 4 days, $1,800, local. Vendor Y: 3 days, $2,300, not local. Vendor Z: 7 days, $2,400, local.

Rank the vendors from best to worst fit.

  1. AX, Y, Z
  2. BX, Z, Y
  3. CY, X, Z
  4. DZ, X, Y

Answer: X, Y, Z.

X meets both hard rules, the 5-day limit and the budget, and is local too. Y misses only the budget, while Z misses both the deadline and the budget, so being local cannot lift it. Check the must-haves before the nice-to-haves.

Example 8 · Most like me / least like me

Pick the statement most like you and the one least like you.

  1. AI follow up until a problem is actually fixed.
  2. BI wait for someone to tell me what to do next.
  3. CI like learning more than one job in the building.
  4. DI keep my area clean as I work.

Most like me: A. Least like me: B.

A shows ownership, which fits any warehouse job, and B is the opposite of it. C and D are good traits, but they are not the strongest pick at either end.

How the Amazon warehouse assessment is scored, and what happens next

Amazon publishes no passing score and does not explain how the assessment is scored. It says it reviews "your work history, the questions you answered during the application process, and the results of your background check and drug test," and that it "cannot give details about these factors."

From candidate reports: you do not see a score and cannot go back to see which answers were wrong. A fail arrives as an email that thanks you for your interest and says Amazon has "decided not to move forward with your application." Several candidates in 2025 and 2026 report a 3-month (90-day) wait before they could apply again. Not everyone reports the same wait: one candidate said they had taken it 4 times before passing.

If you pass, the application moves on. Amazon's steps are: a contingent job offer, a background check form, then you schedule an in-person pre-hire appointment and submit. At the appointment you show proof of identity and employment eligibility for Form I-9, take a drug test if your job requires one, and get your badge photo. Before Day 1, you check your offer status, including background check and drug test results, in your Amazon Jobs account.

How to prepare for the Amazon warehouse assessment

  1. Step 1

Pick your shift, then finish in one sitting

The assessment sits inside the application, and Amazon says to finish within 3 hours or you may lose your shift. Have your work history ready before you click Apply.

  2. Step 2

    Decide your work style once

Put safety first, then accuracy, teamwork and owning mistakes. The pairs repeat ideas in new words, so keep your answers pointing the same way.

  3. Step 3

    Practice following rules exactly

For the bin test, read each rule again before you answer and check every character of a code. Try the three bin examples above without looking at the answers.

  4. Step 4

Get ready for the pre-hire appointment

Bring the right Form I-9 documents. Amazon also suggests submitting your badge photo and I-9 early to save time, and the appointment is not paid.

Is the Amazon warehouse assessment proctored or timed?

Amazon's hourly hiring pages mention no webcam, proctor or screen recording for the assessment. The ID check happens later, in person, at the pre-hire appointment. Amazon does not say whether it logs time or other activity during the test, and it does not name the company that builds it.

Timing: Amazon publishes no time limit for the assessment itself, but it says to finish the whole application within 3 hours, or your shift choice may be gone. A candidate who took the process assistant assessment in 2025 said it took about an hour, was not timed, and that Amazon recommends a computer or tablet over a phone and a quiet space.

Amazon warehouse assessment answers, AI help and cheating

Are there Amazon warehouse assessment answers online?

Flashcards, videos and prep sites claim to have them, but Amazon publishes no answer key, and candidates say you cannot even review your own answers after the test. Many "Amazon assessment answers" pages online are about corporate tests, not the warehouse one. OphyAI Customer Service reads the exact work style question on your screen and shows the strongest pick in seconds.

Can AI help on the Amazon warehouse assessment?

Yes, on the work style part. OphyAI Customer Service handles the "which statement is more like you" pairs and "most like me / least like me" screens, live or in practice, in Chrome or Edge on a computer or in the Mac and Windows desktop app. It is not built for the bin test, so answer those questions yourself.

Can Amazon tell if you use AI on the warehouse assessment?

Amazon's hourly hiring pages mention no webcam, proctor or screen recording for the assessment, and they do not say what activity the test logs. In the OphyAI desktop app, answers show in a popup that macOS and Windows leave out of screen sharing and recording. It does not work inside lockdown or proctored browsers, it does not take typing-speed tests, and hiding a window from screen share does not hide it from a webcam, a person in the room, or proctoring software.

OphyAI Customer Service and the Amazon warehouse assessment

OphyAI Customer Service reads each question of an online customer service assessment on your screen and shows the best answer in a small window only you can see. Practice mode gives you realistic mock tests that explain why each option is better or worse.

OphyAI Customer Service works on the work style part of the real Amazon warehouse assessment, not just in practice. Share the test tab once in Chrome or Edge on a computer, or run it in the OphyAI desktop app for Mac and Windows. Each work style or "most like me / least like me" question is read as it appears and answered in seconds, with your picks kept consistent across the test. In the desktop app, answers show in a popup that macOS and Windows leave out of screen sharing and recording.

What it is not built for: the bin test and other rule or math questions, so answer those yourself. It runs on a computer, not in the iPhone or Android apps, so take the test on a computer if you plan to use it. Want to practice first? The free 3-question sample needs only a free OphyAI account. Practice tests of 5, 10 or 20 questions cover customer-facing jobs like retail and call center, so they are most useful for the work style format. Live sessions and practice tests are on the Premium plan ($59 a month, 500 credits): a live session uses 15 credits and stays open 2 hours, and a practice test uses 5.

Amazon warehouse assessment questions

Amazon publishes no time for the assessment. It says the application takes about twenty minutes, or about an hour with picking a shift and scheduling your appointment, and that you must finish within 3 hours. Candidates describe the warehouse test as short.

Candidates use "bin test" for the part where you follow simple placement rules, such as which item codes go to which bin or shelf, and pick the right answer from a list of six. It checks that you can follow instructions exactly. Amazon does not publish it.

Amazon publishes no rule for the assessment. Candidates in 2025 and 2026 report a 3-month (90-day) wait before they could apply again. Amazon's FAQ says that if you cannot reapply, the site shows your status or how long until you can apply again.

Usually not. Amazon says its hiring process for most hourly roles does not include an interview. Delivery driver roles do require one.

You get a contingent job offer, fill out the background check form, and schedule an in-person pre-hire appointment. After the appointment, you check your background check and drug test results in your account, accept the formal offer, order safety shoes (Amazon gives a credit of up to $110) and set up the A to Z app before Day 1.

Proof of your identity and employment eligibility for Form I-9. You may also take a drug test, if your job requires one, and get your badge photo taken. Amazon says the pre-hire appointment is part of the application and is not paid.

Amazon says it looks at your work history, the questions you answered during the application, and your background check and drug test results, and that it cannot give details. Candidates who failed the assessment say they got a "not to move forward" email without a reason.

No. Corporate and software engineering applicants take different online assessments, such as Amazon's work style assessments and work sample simulations. Our Amazon OA guide at ophyai.com/amazon-oa covers those. This page is only about hourly warehouse hiring.

Candidates say yes. In June 2025, associates on r/AmazonFC reported a new Tier 3 assessment, sent by email after applying through the internal job site. One described it as about an hour: ranking vendors from emails, "most like me" statements and recorded summaries of audio clips.
