The Walgreens Assessment Test: What It Asks and How to Prepare

The Walgreens assessment is an online test that comes with your application for store and pharmacy jobs at jobs.walgreens.com. Walgreens does not publish its format. Candidates describe an emailed invitation after applying and about 20 minutes of work style and personality questions, and pharmacy applicants describe a timed part of about 40 questions in 8 minutes. Walgreens does not publish a passing score, and candidates say a low result can stop an application early. OphyAI Customer Service can help live or in practice.

Walgreens assessment at a glance

Walgreens publishes very little about its assessment, so much of this table comes from candidate reports, labeled as such. Walgreens' own facts come from its careers site and job postings, checked November 6, 2026. Your invitation wins if it says something different.

Walgreens assessment question types

Walgreens does not publish its question types. These are the formats candidates describe, with situations drawn from the duties in a Walgreens store job posting.

Work style and personality statements

Statements about how you work, such as how you act on a busy shift or how you feel about routines. A 2025 Sales Associate/Cashier candidate said every question was about work styles and personality fit.

Tip: Answer as you work on a good day and stay consistent. Similar ideas come back in different words.

Customer situations

A store or pharmacy counter scene with several possible responses: a customer who cannot find an item, a long line, a prescription that is not ready. One candidate called the timed questions situational.

Tip: Pick the answer that helps the customer now and follows store policy. Walking someone to the aisle beats pointing.

Timed pharmacy section

Pharmacy applicants describe about 40 questions in about 8 minutes, with instructions saying you are not expected to finish them all. Reports differ on what the questions are.

Tip: Do not stall on any one question. A short timer is built to run out, so keep moving and stay accurate.

Rules and safety situations

Situations where the rule is inconvenient: checking ID for tobacco or alcohol, sending a prescription problem to the pharmacist, protecting store property. A Walgreens store posting lists all three as duties.

Tip: When an option skips a rule to save time or please a customer, it is usually the weakest one.

The interview that follows

Not part of the online test, but next: candidates describe 5 to 6 behavioral questions about customer service and past experience, often focused on difficult customers.

Tip: Have one short story about an upset customer and one about a mistake you caught and fixed.

Walgreens assessment example questions and answers

Written by us in the formats candidates describe and built on duties from a Walgreens store job posting, never copied from a real test. Try each one before you read the answer.

Example 1 · Best response

You are restocking shampoo when a customer asks where the reading glasses are. They are on the other side of the store.

Pick the best response.

  1. APoint toward the back and say "aisle 12."
  2. BWalk the customer to the reading glasses, ask if they need help finding the right strength, then go back to stocking.
  3. CTell them to ask at the front register.
  4. DKeep stocking and say you are busy right now.

Best response: B.

Walgreens' Pharmacy Cashier posting asks associates to offer help proactively and to take customers to the aisle when possible. B does both and costs a minute. A is fine on a slammed shift, but C and D send the customer away.

Example 2 · Most and least effective

A customer at pharmacy pickup says her prescription was supposed to be ready an hour ago. The system shows it is still waiting for the pharmacist's final check.

Pick the most effective and the least effective response.

  1. ATell her it is not ready and she should come back later.
  2. BApologize, explain it is in the last step where the pharmacist checks it, and give her an honest time or offer to let her know when it is ready.
  3. CAsk the pharmacist to skip the check because she is in a hurry.
  4. DTell her someone else must have made a mistake.

Most effective: B. Least effective: C.

B is honest and gives her a plan. C asks someone to skip a safety step, which no complaint justifies. D blames a coworker, which makes the store look worse and fixes nothing.

Example 3 · Best response

A customer comes back to the counter and says the pills in her new bottle look different from the ones she usually gets.

Pick the best response.

  1. ATell her generic pills often look different and not to worry.
  2. BTell the pharmacist on duty right away and ask her to wait a moment so the pharmacist can look at the bottle with her.
  3. COffer to swap the bottle for a new one yourself.
  4. DTell her to call her doctor about it.

Best response: B.

A Walgreens store posting asks associates to report possible prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately. A might even be true, but only the pharmacist can check. C and D take the question away from the one person who can answer it.

Example 4 · Work style: agree or disagree

Rate how well this statement describes you: "When the store is busy, I stay friendly even with rude customers."

Pick one.

  1. AStrongly disagree
  2. BDisagree
  3. CNeutral
  4. DAgree
  5. EStrongly agree

Best fit: Agree or Strongly agree.

Courtesy is one of the habits a Walgreens store posting names, and staying calm under pressure is part of any counter job. Pick the strong end only if it is true for you, and stay consistent, because the same idea will come back in other words.

Example 5 · Work style: most like me / least like me

Pick the statement most like you and the one least like you.

  1. AI follow store procedures even when a shortcut would be faster.
  2. BI like to greet people first instead of waiting to be asked.
  3. CI would rather work where I do not have to talk to customers.
  4. DI get bored doing the same tasks every shift.

Most like me: B. Least like me: C.

Greeting first is one of the habits a Walgreens store posting names, and procedures matter in a pharmacy too, so A is a fine second. C clashes with a customer-facing job. Real tests pair traits that all sound good, so pick by what the job needs most.

Example 6 · Best response

A regular customer who looks well over 21 wants to buy cigarettes but left his ID in the car. There is a line behind him.

Pick the best response.

  1. ASell them, since you know he is a regular.
  2. BPolitely explain you need to see ID for tobacco every time, offer to hold the item while he gets it, and help the next person.
  3. CAsk a coworker to ring it up instead.
  4. DRefuse and tell him he should know better.

Best response: B.

A Walgreens store posting requires associates to follow the law on regulated products like tobacco and alcohol. B follows the rule, keeps the line moving and stays friendly. A breaks the rule, C passes it on, and D is rude to a loyal customer.

How the Walgreens assessment is scored, and what happens next

Walgreens does not publish how the assessment is scored or what counts as a pass. Candidates describe an automated screen: one Reddit commenter said no person sees it and that a manager will not see an application that fails, and others report applications declined within minutes (candidate reports).

Work style questions have no single right answer, so what matters is a consistent pattern that fits a customer-facing job: friendly, reliable and careful with rules. On the timed pharmacy part, candidates say the instructions expect you not to finish, so speed and accuracy count together.

If you pass, the next step is an interview. A Sales Associate/Cashier candidate in New York in September 2026 described 5 to 6 behavioral questions on customer service and past experience, with an offer the next day, and another candidate said the whole process took about a week (candidate reports).

How to prepare for the Walgreens assessment

  1. Step 1

Read the posting before you apply

Search jobs.walgreens.com, open the role and create your account to apply. Store postings can spell out the service habits Walgreens wants, such as greeting first and reporting prescription errors to the pharmacist, which is a good guide to the assessment.

  2. Step 2

    Block out quiet time

Candidates describe about 20 minutes for store versions and a short timed part for pharmacy jobs. Sit at a computer in a quiet place, with nothing open that could pull you away once a timer starts.

  3. Step 3

    Know the Walgreens service habits

Greet first, offer help before you are asked, find out what the customer needs, and stay with it until they are satisfied. Follow the rules on ID checks and send any prescription problem to the pharmacist right away.

  4. Step 4

    Practice the formats

Work through the examples above, then try OphyAI's free 3-question sample or a practice test of 5, 10 or 20 questions. Every option comes with an explanation of why it is better or worse.

Is the Walgreens assessment proctored, and what does it record?

Walgreens does not describe a proctor, webcam check or screen recording for its application assessment, and candidates do not report one. What the test does track is your answers and, on the timed pharmacy part, the clock: candidates describe a short timer that is meant to run out before most people finish.

Retakes and help: Walgreens does not publish a retake rule. Former employees on Indeed say the system will not let you take it again until it clears you, about 6 months by one account, and one suggests applying at another location (candidate reports). If you need extra time or another format because of a disability, Walgreens offers extended time, readers, interpreters and alternative formats: email yourhrsupport@hr.walgreens.com with the Requisition ID before you start.

Walgreens assessment answers, AI help and cheating

Are there Walgreens assessment answers online?

Plenty of sites and PDFs promise "Walgreens assessment answers," but Walgreens does not publish its questions, the work style part has no answer key, and the wording changes. What carries over is the pattern behind good answers: help the customer, follow the rules, and send prescription problems to the pharmacist. The examples on this page are our own. For the questions on your screen, OphyAI Customer Service shows the best answer and why as each one loads.

Can AI help on the Walgreens assessment?

Yes, on the work style and customer situation parts. OphyAI Customer Service reads each question on your screen in Chrome, Edge or the Mac and Windows desktop app and shows the best response, or a consistent work style choice, in seconds. It also has practice tests in the same formats. It is not built for math or detail-checking questions, if your timed part has them.

Can Walgreens tell if you use AI on the assessment?

Walgreens does not describe a webcam, proctor or screen recording for its application assessment, and candidates do not report one. What it does track is your answers and, on timed parts, the clock. Know the product limits: it does not work inside lockdown or proctored browsers, it does not take typing-speed tests, and hiding a window from screen share does not hide it from a webcam, a person in the room, or proctoring software.

OphyAI Customer Service and the Walgreens assessment

OphyAI Customer Service reads each question of an online customer service assessment on your screen and shows the best answer in a small window only you can see. Practice mode gives you realistic mock tests that explain why each option is better or worse.

Use OphyAI Customer Service on your real Walgreens assessment, not just to practice. Share the test tab once in Chrome or Edge on a computer, or run it in the OphyAI desktop app for Mac and Windows. Each question is read as it appears and answered in seconds: the best response for customer situations, and agree or disagree and "most like me / least like me" choices kept consistent across the test, in a small window only you can see.

If your timed pharmacy part has math or detail-checking questions, Customer Service is not built for those, so answer them yourself. A live session uses 15 credits and stays open 2 hours, and Customer Service is on the Premium plan ($59 a month, 500 credits).

It does not work inside lockdown or proctored browsers, it does not take typing-speed tests, and hiding a window from screen share does not hide it from a webcam, a person in the room, or proctoring software.

Walgreens assessment questions

Walgreens does not say. A Sales Associate/Cashier candidate described about 20 minutes of work style and personality questions, and pharmacy applicants describe a timed part of about 40 questions in about 8 minutes (candidate reports). Set aside 30 minutes of quiet time to be safe.

Walgreens does not publish a pass mark. Candidates describe it as an automated screen: a low result can close the application before a manager sees it, while a good one moves you toward an interview. Work style questions have no right answers, so a consistent, customer-first pattern is what counts.

Walgreens gives no timeline. Glassdoor candidates describe the whole process taking about a week for store jobs, and one got an offer the day after the interview. Others say a weak result brings an automated decline within minutes (candidate reports).

Walgreens does not publish a rule. Former employees on Indeed say the system will not let you retake it until it clears you, about 6 months by one account, and one suggests applying at another location (candidate reports).

Walgreens does not publish device rules. A computer is the safer choice for a timed part, and it is the only way to use OphyAI Customer Service, which runs in Chrome or Edge on a computer or in the Mac and Windows desktop app.

Walgreens has not published it. Pharmacy technician applicants on Reddit describe a timed part of about 40 questions in about 8 minutes and say the instructions do not expect you to finish, and one apprenticeship applicant described about 29 questions (candidate reports). For the pharmacy counter, Walgreens' Pharmacy Cashier posting asks associates to look up prescription status and report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty right away, a good guide to the judgment the customer questions look for. Walgreens also runs an earn-while-you-learn Pharmacy Technician Training Program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor.

If your result moves you forward, you are contacted to schedule an interview. Candidates describe a short interview of 5 to 6 behavioral questions about customer service and past experience (candidate reports). Walgreens says it never asks for money during hiring and never interviews over instant messaging apps, so treat any request like that as a scam.
