Walmart Assessment Test: Questions, Answers and Results

The Walmart assessment is the online questionnaire many hourly applicants take before Walmart considers them for a role. Store jobs get what Walmart's status page calls the Hourly Retail Associate Assessment, and candidates report other versions for team lead and freight jobs. Candidates describe customer and coworker scenarios, agree-or-disagree statements and "most like me" picks. Walmart publishes no time limit; the application alone averages 20-25 minutes. Your status page shows a pass or fail and a retake date. OphyAI Customer Service helps live or in practice.

Walmart assessment at a glance

Walmart's own hiring page covers the application and timing, checked November 6, 2026, but it does not describe the test itself. So rows marked as candidate reports come from Reddit posts and shared captures of Walmart's status page. Walmart can change the test at any time.

Walmart assessment question types

Walmart does not publish its question formats. These are the ones candidates describe most often, explained in our words.

Customer scenarios

A short situation with a shopper on the sales floor, at the register or at pickup, and three or four ways you could respond. You choose the one you would do.

Tip: Pick the answer that helps the customer now, stays polite and follows store rules. When money, a refund or safety is involved, bringing in a manager or team lead is usually part of the best answer.

Coworker and team scenarios

A teammate is slow, makes a mistake or needs a hand, or two tasks compete for your time. You choose how you would handle it.

Tip: Help the teammate in a friendly way and keep your own work moving. Save the manager for real problems like safety, theft or a repeated issue.

Agree or disagree statements

Statements about how you work, rated on a 5-point scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. Many repeat the same idea in different words, and some are worded in reverse.

Tip: Decide what you believe once and answer every version the same way. Candidates say fence-sitting middle answers tend to hurt.

Most like me / least like me

A small group of statements about yourself. You pick the one that sounds most like you and the one that sounds least like you.

Tip: Look for the statement about customers, dependability or teamwork for "most like me", and the one that clashes with the job for "least like me".

Background questions

Candidates mention questions about your past work, such as attendance at your last job. They count toward the same result as the rest of the test.

Tip: Read each one fully before you click. Walmart says you cannot change your application after you submit it.

Walmart assessment example questions and answers

Written by us in the formats candidates describe, never copied from the real test. Try each one before you read the answer.

Example 1 · Best response

A customer at your register says the shelf price for a coffee maker was lower than what just rang up. There are four people in line behind her.

What would you do?

  1. ATell her the register price is the correct one and start the next order.
  2. BApologize, ask a coworker or the service desk to check the shelf tag, and adjust the price if the tag is right.
  3. CCharge her the lower price she names without checking.
  4. DAsk her to go back to the aisle and bring you a photo of the tag.

Best response: B.

B takes her seriously, follows the price-check process and gets help so the line keeps moving. A brushes her off, C skips the check, and D makes the customer do the work.

Example 2 · Best response

You are picking an online pickup order and one item, a 12-pack of a store-brand soda, is not on the shelf.

What would you do?

  1. AMark it out of stock right away so the order is ready on time.
  2. BCheck the nearby shelves and the backroom, then follow the customer's substitution choice if it is truly gone.
  3. CSwap in any soda from the same aisle without checking what the customer allows.
  4. DLeave the order unfinished and ask the next shift to sort it out.

Best response: B.

B looks for the item first and respects what the customer said they would accept. A gives up too fast, C risks a wrong substitute and a complaint, and D hands your work to someone else.

Example 3 · Best response

While stocking, you notice a heavy box on a top shelf hanging over the edge. Shoppers are walking through the aisle.

What would you do?

  1. AKeep stocking and mention it to someone before your shift ends.
  2. BClimb the shelf and push the box back yourself.
  3. CKeep shoppers out of the spot, get the right equipment or a trained teammate, and tell your team lead.
  4. DAsk a shopper to keep an eye on it while you look for help.

Best response: C.

Safety comes first, and C protects shoppers while using the right equipment. B is unsafe climbing, A leaves the hazard in place, and D puts the job on a customer.

Example 4 · Best response

A new coworker in your department keeps putting items in the wrong spots, and it is slowing down the whole section.

What would you do?

  1. AQuietly fix the items yourself and say nothing.
  2. BTell your manager that the new person is not doing the job.
  3. CShow them how to read the shelf labels in a friendly way and offer to check a few together.
  4. DTell them they need to slow down and be more careful.

Best response: C.

C helps a new teammate learn and fixes the cause, which is what team scenarios reward. A hides the problem, B escalates too early, and D criticizes without helping.

Example 5 · Best response

You and a coworker split the freight for the grocery aisles each night. For the past week, he has left about half of his pallet unworked by the end of the shift, and you have been staying to finish it.

What would you do?

  1. AKeep finishing his freight every night so the aisles look good.
  2. BTalk to him privately, ask if something is slowing him down, and offer a tip that helps you work faster. If nothing changes, tell your team lead.
  3. CTell the other overnight associates that he is not pulling his weight.
  4. DLeave his half undone so the team lead sees who is behind.

Best response: B.

B starts with a friendly, private talk and still brings in the team lead if the problem keeps going, which is the order team scenarios reward. A hides a real problem and burns you out, C spreads gossip, and D lets the store suffer to make a point.

Example 6 · Agree or disagree

Statement: "If a customer is rude to me, I stay polite and keep working on their problem."

How much do you agree?

  1. AStrongly disagree
  2. BDisagree
  3. CNeither agree nor disagree
  4. DAgree
  5. EStrongly agree

Strongest answer: Strongly agree.

Staying calm and owning the problem is the core of customer service. Expect the same idea again in reverse, such as a statement about snapping back at rude people, and answer that one strongly disagree to stay consistent.

Example 7 · Most like me / least like me

Pick the statement that is most like you and the one that is least like you.

  1. AI like to know what is expected of me before my shift starts.
  2. BI enjoy helping people find what they are looking for.
  3. CI get annoyed when customers ask a lot of questions.
  4. DI like to keep my work area neat.

Most like me: B. Least like me: C.

B is about customer care, the trait a store job needs most, and C directly clashes with it. A and D are fine traits, but they are not the strongest pick at either end.

How the Walmart assessment is scored, and what happens next

Walmart publishes no passing score and does not explain how the assessment is scored. Candidates report that the result shows on your Walmart application status page. A pass reads "Active: Retake after" a date, with the line "You have passed the assessment. If you are selected to move forward, the hiring team will reach out to you regarding your application." A fail says you will not be considered for that job and gives the earliest date you can retake the test. Some candidates say they only saw "Completed" and had to call the store.

Candidates also report that a pass stays on file until the retake date: about 6 months for some results and about 2 years for others, which one commenter says depends on how high you scored. Store staff on Reddit say hiring teams see your result as a percentage or a color, not your individual answers.

After you finish, a screen confirms you completed the application and required assessments. Walmart says it tries to respond within a week, that some applications take longer, and that you will be told if you are not selected for an interview. Hourly applications stay in the system for 60 days, and you can add other positions in that time.

How to pass the Walmart assessment

  1. Step 1

    Know which assessment you got

Your status page names it. Store hourly jobs use the Hourly Retail Associate Assessment. Candidates say team lead and supervisor jobs use a separate assessment, which our Walmart team lead assessment guide covers.

  2. Step 2

    Learn the customer-first, team-first pattern

The strongest answers help the customer now, stay polite, follow store rules and keep everyone safe. Help teammates before you report them, and bring in a manager for money, refunds, safety or anything outside your role.

  3. Step 3

    Answer the statements consistently

The same idea comes back in different and reversed wording. Decide once how you work, then match it every time. Clear agree or disagree answers read better than a row of middle answers.

  4. Step 4

Practice the formats before test day

Work through the 7 examples above, best response first, then the agree-or-disagree and most like me picks. Candidates on Reddit report failing even after using online answer lists, so learn the pattern, not a list.

  5. Step 5

Finish in one sitting and check your status

Set aside quiet time on the device you started on. Wait for the confirmation screen, then check your status page for passed or failed and the retake date. For problems, call 1-800-955-7267.

Is the Walmart assessment proctored or timed?

Walmart's hiring page mentions no webcam, proctor, ID check or screen recording for the assessment. The test is part of the online application, and Walmart says you can save an hourly application and finish later on the same device. Walmart publishes no time limit.

What it records: your answers and the result on your status page. Walmart does not say whether it logs time per question or other activity, and it does not name the company that builds the test. Candidates report that you cannot retake an assessment before the date shown on your status page.

Walmart assessment answers, AI help and cheating

Are there Walmart assessment answers online?

Flashcard sets, PDFs and videos claim to have Walmart assessment answers, but Walmart publishes no answer key, and candidates on Reddit report failing even after using those lists. OphyAI Customer Service reads the exact question on your screen and shows the best answer in seconds, so you are not matching a list from someone else's test.

Can AI help on the Walmart assessment?

Yes. The formats candidates describe, best response to a customer or coworker scenario, agree-or-disagree statements and most like me / least like me picks, are all formats OphyAI Customer Service handles, live or in practice. Share the test tab in Chrome or Edge on a computer, or use the Mac or Windows desktop app. It is not in the iPhone or Android apps.

Can Walmart tell if you use AI on the assessment?

Walmart's hiring page mentions no webcam, proctor or screen recording for the assessment, and it does not say what activity the test logs. In the OphyAI desktop app, answers show in a popup that macOS and Windows leave out of screen sharing and recording. It does not work inside lockdown or proctored browsers, it does not take typing-speed tests, and hiding a window from screen share does not hide it from a webcam, a person in the room, or proctoring software.

OphyAI Customer Service works on the real Walmart assessment, not just in practice. Share the test tab once in Chrome or Edge on a computer, or run it in the OphyAI desktop app for Mac and Windows. Each question is read as it appears and answered in seconds: the best response to a customer or coworker scenario, the most like me and least like me picks, or an agree-or-disagree choice kept consistent with your earlier answers. In the desktop app, answers show in a popup that macOS and Windows leave out of screen sharing and recording.

Want to practice first? The free 3-question sample needs only a free OphyAI account. Practice tests of 5, 10 or 20 original questions explain why each option is better or worse and end with a skills scorecard. Live sessions and practice tests are on the Premium plan ($59 a month, 500 credits): a live session uses 15 credits and stays open 2 hours, and a practice test uses 5. It runs on a computer, not in the iPhone or Android apps. If your version has math, chart or detail-checking questions, Customer Service is not built for those, so answer them yourself.

Walmart assessment questions

Walmart does not publish a time for the test. It says the application takes 20-25 minutes on average the first time, and that assessments add time on top. Plan for one quiet sitting on the device you started the application on.

Check your Walmart application status page. Candidates report that a pass reads "You have passed the assessment" with an "Active: Retake after" date, and a fail says you will not be considered for that job and gives the date you can retake the test. Some only see "Completed" and have to call the store. Walmart publishes no passing score.

Look at your status page for the retake date. Candidates report a fail notice that says you cannot be considered for that job, that you can retake the test only after a set date, and to re-apply after it. Reported waits run from 30 days to 6 months, and Walmart publishes no rule. Use the wait to practice the formats on this page, then re-apply once the date passes. For problems with your application, call 1-800-955-7267.

Walmart says it tries to respond within a week of your application, and that some take longer depending on the job, the location and how many people applied. It also says you will be told if you are not selected for an interview.

Walmart publishes no rule. A shared capture of the status page shows a 30-day wait after a fail, and other candidates report 60 days or 6 months. Your status page shows the exact retake date for your result.

Walmart does not say which devices work. It does say to finish a saved hourly application on the same device you started on, with cookies on. OphyAI Customer Service runs on a computer in Chrome or Edge, or in the Mac and Windows desktop app.

A screen confirms you finished the application and required assessments. If you passed and a store picks you, the hiring team contacts you for an interview. Hourly applications stay on file for 60 days, and you can add other positions in that time.

No. Candidates report that team lead and supervisor applicants take a separate assessment, covered in our guide at ophyai.com/walmart-team-lead-assessment.

No. Walmart says you cannot change your application after submitting it, so read each question fully before you move on.
