Vocabulary and word meaning
Pick the word that means the same as, or the opposite of, a given word, sometimes shown inside a sentence.
Tip: If two options look close, put each one back in the sentence and read it.
The Wonderlic test is a timed cognitive ability test: 50 multiple-choice questions in 12 minutes, with no calculator or dictionary. Today most job seekers take it as part of Wonderlic Select (formerly WonScore), which adds untimed motivation and personality sections and takes about 35 minutes in all. On the classic 50-question test the average score is around 20, but Select has no universal pass mark: each employer gets a job-specific fit score.
Facts from Wonderlic's own pages, checked November 3, 2026. Employers can change settings, so your invitation email wins if it says something different.

Wonderlic says no single topic dominates the cognitive section and that questions get harder as you go. Expect these, mixed together.
Pick the word that means the same as, or the opposite of, a given word, sometimes shown inside a sentence.
Tip: If two options look close, put each one back in the sentence and read it.
See how two words relate, then pick the word that completes a second pair the same way.
Tip: Say the relationship as a sentence first ("an oven is used to bake"), then test each option.
Short everyday arithmetic: totals, percentages, rates and simple fractions, done without a calculator.
Tip: Write the numbers down as you read so you answer the question actually asked.
Find the rule in a series of numbers or letters, or pick the graph or figure that matches a set of values.
Tip: Check the differences between terms first, then the ratios, then alternating terms.
Short logic puzzles where you decide what must be true from a few statements.
Tip: Jot the statements down in shorthand so you are not holding them all in your head.
Compare dates, names or numbers for exact matches, and simple shape or spatial questions.
Tip: Compare character by character, and do not skip the punctuation.
On the classic 50-question Wonderlic Personnel Test your score was the number right, and Wonderlic says the average is around 20. Many people do not finish.
Wonderlic Select scores differently. The cognitive section weighs each question by its difficulty and the effect of guessing, so it is not a simple count, and Wonderlic says guessing is not likely to improve your score. Employers see an overall score from 0 to 100 in four bands: Weak (0-24), Cautionary (25-49), Moderate (50-74) and Strong (75-100), based on the job profile they picked from more than 1,100.
There is no universal passing score, and you do not get a number back. At the end of the test you may see a link to a Candidate Feedback Report that describes your strengths in general terms.
The Test Taker Hub has 5 timed questions in 72 seconds with no sign-up, and the questions change each time. It is short, but it shows the real pace: about 14 seconds a question.
50 questions in 12 minutes leaves no time to check work. Practice mixed sets on a timer and train yourself to skip and return rather than stall.
Percentages, fractions and rates without a calculator, and synonyms, antonyms and analogies. These are the most common question types.
The motivation and personality sections have no right answers and are compared with the job profile. You must answer all 150 personality statements, and you can go back.
Wonderlic says most employers do not proctor Wonderlic Select, though some choose to. It uses rotating, equivalent versions of the cognitive test, blocks copy and paste, and logs test-taking behavior.
Since February 2026, an "accuracy warning" flags unusual answer patterns in the cognitive section, and Wonderlic advises employers to retest flagged candidates in a proctored or supervised setting. On a retake you get a different version, and Wonderlic advises testing no more than twice.
Not for your test. Wonderlic rotates equivalent versions of its cognitive test, gives a different version on a retest and never releases the real items, so "Wonderlic answers" lists are practice questions. For the questions on your own screen, OphyAI Aptitude Test reads each one and shows the answer and a one-line reason in a private popup.
Yes, on the cognitive section: vocabulary, analogies, word problems, number series and logic are all multiple choice, which OphyAI Aptitude Test was built for. It does not help with the motivation or personality sections, which have no right answers.
Wonderlic says most employers do not proctor it, but it blocks copy and paste, logs test-taking behavior, and since February 2026 shows employers an "accuracy warning" for unusual answer patterns, with advice to retest flagged candidates under supervision. OphyAI's popup is hidden from screen sharing and recording, but not from a webcam, a person in the room, proctoring software that inspects your computer, or a supervised retest.

Aptitude Test mode in the OphyAI desktop app reads each multiple-choice question on your screen and shows the answer, with a one-line reason, in a small popup only you can see.
Use OphyAI Aptitude Test on your real Wonderlic, not just for practice. Start a test in the desktop app, open the Wonderlic and turn on Auto: each question is answered as it loads, with the option to pick and a one-line reason, in a popup that macOS and Windows leave out of screen sharing and recording. Or press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + A on any question.
It handles the cognitive section, not the untimed motivation or personality sections. Wonderlic flags unusual answer patterns and may ask for a supervised retest.

Hiding the popup from screen share does not hide it from a webcam, a person in the room, or proctoring and lockdown software that lists running apps or blocks screen capture.
The cognitive section has 50 multiple-choice questions with a 12-minute limit. In Wonderlic Select it is followed by an untimed motivation section (58 items) and an untimed personality section (150 statements).
On the classic test the average is around 20 out of 50. Wonderlic Select has no universal good or average score: employers see a 0-100 fit score for the specific job, where 75-100 is Strong.
No. Wonderlic says to answer without a calculator or dictionary.
The classic Wonderlic Personnel Test was only the 50-question, 12-minute cognitive test. Wonderlic Select, formerly WonScore, keeps a timed cognitive section and adds motivation and personality, then gives the employer one job-specific score.
Not as a number. You may get a link to a Candidate Feedback Report at the end of the test.
Only if the employer allows it. Retake rules are set by the employer, a retake uses a different version, and Wonderlic advises testing no more than twice.
The NFL gave the Wonderlic at its Scouting Combine for decades and stopped in 2022, though Sports Illustrated reported that some teams still use it in their own draft evaluations.
No. Wonderlic says you should never have to pay to take one of its assessments. Prep sellers are not affiliated with Wonderlic.
