Indeed Assessments: Retired in 2024, and What Employers Use Now

Indeed Assessments no longer exist. Indeed discontinued both the skills tests you took from your profile and the ones employers sent after you applied, globally, starting in October 2024, and did not replace them with another test tool. Past results no longer show on profiles. Today Indeed applications may ask screener questions or optional AI Recruiter Questions, and employers who want a skills test send their own, often on platforms like Criteria, TestGorilla or SHL.

Indeed Assessments question types

Indeed offered a large library of short tests (it gave counts from 50 to more than 200 over the years). These were the main kinds, plus what Indeed asks applicants today.

Cognitive and attention to detail (before)

Indeed listed cognitive ability and Attention to Detail tests, the kind now covered by employer tests like the CCAT and Wonderlic.

Tip: If an employer sends a cognitive test today, find out which one and read that test's guide.

Work style (before)

Personality-style tests such as Reliability and Customer Service Fit, with no right or wrong answers.

Tip: Today similar questionnaires come from vendors like Criteria (EPP) or TestGorilla (Big 5). Answer as yourself.

Job skills and industry knowledge (before)

Tests such as customer service, sales, social media and SEO skills, typing, and industry knowledge for roles like medical billing, bartending or HVAC repair.

Tip: Role-specific tests on platforms like TestGorilla cover similar ground today.

Screener questions (now)

Questions the employer adds to the Indeed application, like years of experience or a required license. Answers that miss a required criterion can mark you as rejected.

Tip: Answer honestly and precisely; a "no" on a required item can end the application automatically.

AI Recruiter Questions (now)

An optional step after you apply: open-ended questions written by the employer, answered by chat, audio or video and shared with the employer.

Tip: Treat them like a short interview. Give specific examples, and switch to text if you prefer.

How Indeed Assessments were scored

Results came as levels rather than numbers. Until at least late 2022 there were five: Expert, Highly Proficient, Proficient, Familiar and Completed. By 2024 Indeed showed just Proficient or Completed. Indeed never published what score each level needed.

Only the employer that sent a test saw that result. Self-serve results could be shown or hidden on your profile. Since the shutdown, past results no longer appear on profiles.

How to prepare now that Indeed Assessments are gone

  1. Step 1

    Ignore "Indeed Assessment" practice packs

Some prep sites still sell Indeed practice tests with no mention of the shutdown. Indeed Assessments ended in October 2024, so there is no Indeed test to prepare for.

  2. Step 2

    Prepare for screener questions

Read the job post for required experience, licenses and schedules, and make sure your answers in the application match your resume.

  3. Step 3

    Practice for AI Recruiter Questions

Have short, specific stories ready for common questions such as why you want the role and a time you solved a problem. You can answer by text instead of audio or video.

  4. Step 4

Identify any test an employer sends

If you get a test link after applying, check the sender and the site. It is likely Criteria (ondemandassessment.com), TestGorilla, SHL, Wonderlic or a similar platform; read that test's guide.

Could you cheat on Indeed Assessments?

Indeed's own FAQ pointed to regularly updated tests, time limits and a limit of one reset every six months as its anti-cheating measures. It never described webcam or screen proctoring.

That question is now moot for Indeed itself. The tests employers send instead often monitor more: TestGorilla takes webcam snapshots, HackerRank and CodeSignal can record your screen, and Criteria can lock you out for leaving the test window.

Indeed Assessments answers, AI help and cheating

Are there Indeed Assessment answers online?

There is nothing left to answer: Indeed retired its assessments in October 2024, so sites still selling "Indeed assessment answers" are out of date. If an employer sends you a test now, it comes from a platform like Criteria, TestGorilla or SHL.

Can AI help with the tests employers send now?

Yes. OphyAI Aptitude Test reads timed multiple-choice questions on your screen and shows the answer and a one-line reason, on most aptitude platforms employers use. Each test uses 15 credits and stays open for 2 hours.

Practicing for the tests employers send now

Aptitude Test mode in the OphyAI desktop app reads each multiple-choice question on your screen and shows the answer, with a one-line reason, in a small popup only you can see.

Indeed no longer tests you, but employers still do on their own platforms. Use OphyAI Aptitude Test on the real test they send: start a test in the desktop app, open the assessment and turn on Auto, and each multiple-choice question is answered as it loads, with a one-line reason, in a popup hidden from screen sharing and recording.

For AI Recruiter Questions and interviews, OphyAI Interview Practice lets you rehearse spoken answers with feedback, and Interview Copilot helps in the live interview.

Indeed Assessments questions

No. Indeed discontinued both self-serve and employer-requested assessments globally starting in October 2024, and did not replace them with another test tool.

Indeed says past assessment results no longer show on profiles after the shutdown.

It is not an Indeed Assessment. It is either the employer's questions on Indeed (screener or AI Recruiter Questions) or a test from the employer's own testing vendor. Check the link: an ondemandassessment.com link, for example, is a Criteria test.

An optional step after you apply on Indeed: open-ended questions written by the employer that you answer by chat, audio or video. Your answers are shared with the employer, and you can switch audio or video to text.

Most took 10 minutes or less each, and Indeed suggested setting aside 30 minutes. Each question had its own countdown timer.

Levels, not numbers: Expert, Highly Proficient, Proficient, Familiar or Completed, and later just Proficient or Completed. Indeed never published the cutoffs.

Not anymore, since the tests have ended. Before the shutdown, you could reset a test once every six months.

No. The Indeed tests ended in 2024. If you want to practice, use the free official practice from the test an employer actually sends you, such as Criteria's, SHL's or Wonderlic's.
