Which Apps Does OphyAI Interview Copilot Work With?

The OphyAI desktop app for Mac and Windows works with any meeting or calling app that plays the interviewer's voice through your computer: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Slack huddles, Discord and the rest. It listens to your computer's audio, so it does not depend on which app you use. The browser version runs in a tab next to Zoom, Teams, Meet or Webex. A call on your cell phone is the one case it cannot hear.

Free download. First Copilot session free for up to 15 minutes, no card. Or use it in the browser

The one fact behind every row

Hears the interviewer through system audio, with no virtual audio cable or extra setup.

It listens to your computer, not to the app

The desktop app captures the audio your computer plays, the same sound you hear in your headset. Any app that plays the interviewer through your computer is heard the same way. Nothing in the meeting app has to change.

No plugin, no integration, no cable

OphyAI does not plug into the meeting app, so there is nothing for you, the host or the meeting app to install or approve. It hears the interviewer through system audio with no virtual audio cable or extra setup.

Hidden from screen share, with limits

macOS and Windows leave the answer window out of screen sharing and recording, so this does not depend on the meeting app either. It is not hidden from a camera pointed at your screen, someone in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps.

How the interview copilot works with each app, and our guide where we have one. Not on the list? The same rule applies: if the voice plays through your computer, the desktop app hears it.

One-way video interviews (HireVue, Spark Hire)There is no live interviewer. OphyAI has a One-way Interview mode for HireVue and Spark Hire style interviews, on the Premium plan. It runs on the web in Chrome or Edge, where you share the interview tab, and in the Mac and Windows desktop app. It reads each written question as it appears on your screen and suggests a short answer to say. In the desktop app you can also press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + A to read the question now, and if the question plays as a video, it answers from what it hears.HireVueSpark HireOne-way video

Desktop app or browser?

Desktop app for Mac and Windows

Works with every row in the table, because it hears system audio. Its answer window is hidden from screen sharing and recording (see the limits below). Use it whenever you might share your entire screen.

macOS on Apple Silicon or Intel. Signed and notarized by Apple. Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) and Windows 11, 64-bit. The installer and app are code-signed by Ophy Labs Inc.

Browser version

Runs in a tab next to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Webex and uses browser audio permission to listen for questions. Whisper Mode opens answers in a separate floating window, designed for normal tab and window screen-share workflows; a full-screen share can pick it up. Audio routing varies by device, browser and meeting client, so test first. Good for a locked-down laptop where you cannot install apps.

Pick a layout you can read

The desktop app has four layouts. The Teleprompter shows one beat at a time near the top of your screen, so your eyes stay close to the camera.

How the Teleprompter works

Hiding a window from screen share does not hide it from a camera pointed at your screen, someone in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps.

Check any app in two minutes

Do this once on the computer and app you will use, before the real interview.

  1. 1

Open the app you will use

Same computer, same headset, same app. Start a call with a friend, or join a test meeting if the app has one (Zoom has zoom.us/test and Webex has webex.com/test-meeting.html).

  2. 2

    Start an OphyAI session

Open the desktop app and start Interview Copilot. On a Mac, allow microphone and screen recording access when asked.

  3. 3

    Check the transcript

Have your friend ask a question. Their words should appear in OphyAI's live transcript, followed by a suggested answer.

  4. 4

    Check the share

Share your entire screen in the call and look at the preview or a recording. The answer window should not be in it.

Supported apps questions

Yes. The OphyAI desktop app for Mac and Windows hears the interviewer through your computer's system audio, so it works the same in each of them, whether you use the meeting app or join in a browser. The browser version also runs in a tab next to these four. Use your first 15-minute session to test the exact setup you plan to use.

If the other person's voice plays through your computer, the desktop app hears it, because it listens to your computer's audio rather than to a particular meeting app. Run a short test call in that app before your interview.

No. The desktop app does not plug into the meeting app, and it hears the interviewer through system audio with no virtual audio cable or extra setup. On a Mac, allow microphone and screen recording access when asked: that is how the app hears the meeting audio.

Not with the desktop app. macOS and Windows exclude the answer window from screen sharing and recording, so the meeting app shares what is behind it, even on a full-screen share. It is not hidden from a camera pointed at your screen, someone in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps. In the browser, Whisper Mode is a floating window that a full-screen share can pick up.

Yes, when you take the call on your computer, such as a Zoom, Teams, Webex or Meet call with the camera off, or a calling app in your browser or on your desktop. A call on your cell phone is not heard, because the audio does not play through your computer. For that, choose the Phone Interview type and use manual mode to type or paste the question.

One-way interviews have no live interviewer, so there is often nothing to hear: the questions are usually written on screen or played as a recording. For those, OphyAI One-way Interview (Premium) reads each question off your screen and suggests a short answer, on the web in Chrome or Edge or in the desktop app. See the one-way row in the table above and our HireVue, Spark Hire and one-way video interview guides.

Use the desktop app whenever you might share your entire screen, or when the call is not on Zoom, Teams, Meet or Webex. Use the browser on a locked-down work laptop where you cannot install apps. Both use the same account and credits.

The desktop app is a free download, and your first Interview Copilot session is free for up to 15 minutes with no card. After that, Pro is $29 a month with 300 credits, and each Copilot session uses 15 credits.
