Interview Copilot for Webex

AI Interview Copilot for Webex Interviews

Yes, OphyAI works with Webex. It runs in a browser alongside your Webex call, or in the desktop app for Mac and Windows, listens for spoken questions, and streams answer suggestions using your resume and job description as context. The desktop app's answer window is hidden from Webex screen sharing, even on a full-screen share, though not from a camera, someone in the room, or proctoring software. Test your setup before an important interview.

For a Webex interview, the important checks are audio capture, screen-share boundaries, response timing, and whether suggestions reflect your real experience. The OphyAI desktop app listens to your computer's audio, so it hears Webex the same way whether you join in the Webex app or in a browser. Performance still varies with the device, microphone, connection, and question.

Why use OphyAI as your Interview Copilot?

Hidden from Webex screen sharing

On Mac and Windows, the OphyAI desktop app shows answers in a window the operating system leaves out of screen sharing and recording, so Webex shares what is behind it. It is still visible to a camera pointed at your screen, anyone in the room, and proctoring software that inspects running apps.

Hears Webex with no virtual cable

The desktop app listens to your computer's system audio, so it hears the interviewer whether you use the Webex app or Webex in a browser. There is no plugin to add to Webex and no audio routing to set up.

Whisper Mode in the browser

Prefer not to install anything? The browser version runs in a tab next to Webex and opens answers in a separate Picture-in-Picture window, designed for normal tab and window screen-share workflows. A full-screen share can pick it up, so share one window.

Streamed answer suggestions

Server-Sent Events show suggestions as the model generates them. Timing varies with audio quality, connection, question, and model, so test the workflow with a realistic call first.

Resume and job-description context

The copilot can use your uploaded resume and job description when suggesting answer structure. Verify every detail and speak from experience you genuinely have.

Pro from $29 per month

The first Standard Copilot session is available for up to 15 minutes without a credit card. Use it to test audio capture and the floating workspace on your Webex setup.

How to set up Interview Copilot in under 2 minutes

Start in the browser with nothing to install: the browser overlay is designed for normal tab and window screen-share workflows. On Mac and Windows you can also use the OphyAI desktop app, whose answer window is hidden from screen sharing and recording. The steps below cover the browser version.

1

Sign up and upload resume

Create a free OphyAI account at app.ophyai.com/auth/signup and upload your latest resume PDF. The copilot uses it to ground answer suggestions.

2

Open Interview Copilot tab

In a separate browser tab from Webex, open the OphyAI Interview Copilot. Grant microphone permission so it can hear the Webex audio. (On Mac or Windows you can use the OphyAI desktop app instead.)

3

Enable Whisper Mode

Click "Whisper Mode" to pop the answer panel into a Picture-in-Picture window. Drag it to a second monitor or to the edge of your primary screen.

4

Join your Webex interview

Join the Webex call as normal, in the Webex app or from your browser. The copilot listens for spoken questions and streams suggestions when it detects one.

Webex interview tips

Seven checks for the Webex call itself, whether or not you use a copilot. Webex has several apps and versions, so confirm the details in the Webex help center.

  1. Tip 1

    Join the Webex test meeting

Go to webex.com/test-meeting.html, enter your name and email, and join. You can pick how to hear the meeting, mute and unmute, turn video on and off, and try a background before the real call.

  2. Tip 2

    Decide: Webex app or browser

The first time you join, Webex downloads its app. On a Mac or Windows PC you can click Join from your browser instead. Pick one, and run your test in the same one you will use for the interview.

  3. Tip 3

    Use the preview window

Before you join, Webex shows a preview where you choose how to hear the meeting and turn your mic and camera on or off. Make sure the right microphone and headset are picked there, not in front of the interviewer.

  4. Tip 4

    Keep the invite open

Some Webex meetings ask for a password, and it is in your invite. Keep that email open until you are in the call, along with the recruiter's phone number in case the link fails.

  5. Tip 5

    Expect the lobby

If the host has locked the meeting, you wait in the Webex lobby until the host or a cohost lets you in. Join a few minutes early, and stay put instead of leaving and rejoining.

  6. Tip 6

Blur or swap the background in the preview

Webex lets you choose a blurred or virtual background from Video options in the preview window. If the option is missing, an administrator may control it, so tidy the real room instead.

  7. Tip 7

Share one app window, not the whole screen

In the Webex app you choose the screen or the application to share, and a preview at the top of your screen shows what you are sharing. Pick one window. Turn on Include computer sound only if you need to play audio.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. OphyAI runs in a browser alongside Webex and uses browser audio permission to listen for interview questions. On Mac and Windows, the OphyAI desktop app hears the interviewer through system audio instead, with no virtual audio cable, whether you join Webex in its app or in a browser. Use the first 15-minute Standard session to test the exact setup you plan to use.

In the browser, Whisper Mode opens a separate floating window that may stay outside a shared tab or application window, but a full-screen share can pick it up. The OphyAI desktop app for Mac and Windows is the stronger option: the operating system excludes its answer window from screen sharing and recording, so Webex shows what is behind it, even when you share your entire screen. It does not hide the window from a camera pointed at your screen, someone in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps. Test your setup before the interview.

Either works with OphyAI. Webex downloads its app the first time you join, and on a Mac or Windows PC you can click Join from your browser instead. The OphyAI desktop app listens to your computer's audio, so it does not matter which one you pick. Run your test call in the one you will use on the day.

No. Cisco AI Assistant in Webex is a meeting assistant: it can catch you up, list action items and summarize the meeting. By default only the host and cohosts can start the summary, and Webex gives an audio and visual notice when it starts. It does not suggest answers from your resume. OphyAI is built for the candidate side of an interview and does not depend on the host's Webex plan.

Yes, as long as the call plays through your computer. The desktop app hears the interviewer through system audio, so a Webex call with cameras off works the same as a video call. If you join the audio by phone instead, the interviewer's voice is on your phone, not your computer, and OphyAI cannot hear it. See our phone interview guide for that case.

Yes, in the desktop app. Coding Copilot reads the coding problem on your screen, whether it is shared in the Webex window or open in your own editor: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + S lets you drag a box around it, and Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + A snaps the problem window. It returns an approach, complexity notes and working code in your language, in an overlay that screen sharing and recording leave out. Space or Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + L transcribes the question the interviewer asks out loud. Coding Interview is on the Premium plan ($59 a month) and uses 15 credits per session.

OphyAI Pro is $29 per month with 300 credits and Premium is $59 per month with 500. A Standard Copilot session uses 15 credits. The first Standard Copilot session is capped at 15 minutes and does not require a credit card. Ongoing Copilot access requires Pro, Premium, or an eligible Interview Pass.
