UltraCode AI Review 2026: $799 Lifetime, 2 Free Questions, No Refunds
Is UltraCode AI worth $799? A fair review: lifetime-only pricing, a 2-question free trial, Mac and Windows, no refunds, and what its own Terms say.
Last updated: October 2026
Quick Answer and Verdict: Is UltraCode AI Worth It?
UltraCode AI (the vendor writes ULTRACODE) is a Mac and Windows desktop app for software engineering interviews: a hotkey or click sends the coding, system design or verbal question on your screen or in the call to the AI, and it returns an explained answer. It sells one paid option, Lifetime access at $799 one time, after a free trial that answers 2 questions, with no refunds (checked October 21, 2026).
Who it fits: engineers with many coding rounds ahead who want unlimited use for one upfront price. Who it does not fit: anyone with behavioral or recruiter rounds, anyone who wants to practice, or anyone who cannot risk $799 with no refund. For that group, OphyAI Interview Copilot gives live help in any round on the web or in Mac and Windows desktop apps, Interview Practice runs mock interviews, and Premium adds Coding Interview.
| Checked Oct 21, 2026 | Best for | Price | Free way in |
|---|---|---|---|
| UltraCode AI | Coding, system design and technical Q&A rounds | $799 one time (shown as 55% off $1,799) | 2 questions, no card, not meant for real interviews |
| OphyAI | Live help for any round plus practice and resume tools | Pro $29 (300 credits); Premium $59 (500 credits, includes Coding Interview) | First Copilot session up to 15 minutes for eligible new users, no card |

What UltraCode AI Is
UltraCode’s own summary calls it “a desktop AI co-pilot for software engineering interviews (macOS and Windows).” It is built for technical loops only.
| Detail | What UltraCode’s own pages say |
|---|---|
| How it reads the question | One click or hotkey solves a question shown on screen or spoken aloud; “No typing required” |
| Question types | LeetCode-style coding, system design, object-oriented design, trivia and verbal questions |
| Answers | ”ThoughtFlow” step-by-step explanations with every line of code explained |
| Programming languages | ”Every programming language,” picked from the language set in your editor |
| Apps named | Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Chime; LeetCode, CoderPad, HackerRank, CodeSignal |
| Devices | Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows; installers were version 8.12.0 on October 21, 2026 |
| Requirements | macOS 13 Ventura or Windows 8 or later; 8 GB RAM minimum; vendor recommends Windows 11 or macOS 15.6 |
The homepage also shows a 4.93/5 rating from 5,179 reviews, “37,000+ engineers hired” and redacted offer letters. None of these figures links to a source we could check, so treat them as marketing.
UltraCode AI Pricing (Checked October 21, 2026)
UltraCode has no monthly plan. Its FAQ says: “No. ULTRACODE is a one-time lifetime purchase.”
| Option | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0, no credit card | Answers 2 questions of your choice; some advanced features disabled; “not meant to be used in interviews” |
| Lifetime access | $799 one time, shown against a “Normal Price” of $1,799 | Unlimited use with no usage credits, all features, license moves to a new device if yours fails |
Other pricing details from its pages:
- Scarcity framing. The page shows a “spots left” counter (88 when we fetched it) and a countdown timer next to the $799 price. We could not verify either, so do not let them rush the decision.
- No refunds, no exceptions. The FAQ says “All purchases are non-refundable.” The Terms add that there are no exceptions “even if you purchased but have not used the service,” and that buying for an incompatible device is not grounds for a refund.
- “Lifetime” vs the Terms. The Terms (last updated August 13, 2024) say “Upon purchase, you will have 365 days of access to the service” and that purchases never auto-renew. That conflicts with the lifetime wording on the homepage. Ask support (team@ultracode.ai) to confirm the term in writing before you pay.
- One device per license. Account sharing is banned and devices are tracked per account; using more devices requires more licenses.
OphyAI has no $9 plan: the Basic plan was retired in July 2026, so pages that show Basic at $9, Pro at $19 or Premium at $39 are out of date (current pricing). To see every major copilot’s price in one table, use our AI interview copilot pricing comparison.
Where UltraCode AI Is the Better Fit
- A long technical search with heavy daily use. $799 once with no usage credits can beat a subscription over a long search. By our math it equals about 13.5 months of OphyAI Premium at $59, or about 1.4 years of annual Premium at $566.
- No usage meter. OphyAI uses credits: Coding Interview is 15 credits per session, and a Standard or Technical Copilot session is 15 credits. UltraCode says lifetime use is unlimited.
- Breadth inside the technical loop. Object-oriented design, trivia and spoken technical questions are named alongside coding and system design, and the vendor claims every programming language.
Limitations and Watch-Outs
- $799 with no way back. The trial covers 2 questions, and the vendor itself says the trial is not meant for interviews. If the app does not suit you after purchase, the stated policy gives no refund.
- Technical rounds only. There is no behavioral, recruiter or case focus, no scored mock interviews, no resume builder and no job search.
- The Terms contradict the marketing. Beyond the 365-day line, section 8 of the Terms asks users to “Disclose use of the Services to all involved parties whenever the Services are used by you and obtain permission for usage from all relevant stakeholders,” and another clause makes you responsible for getting “explicit consent from all participants” on a call. The homepage, by contrast, sells the app on interviewers not seeing it.
- Detection claims are vendor claims, with the vendor’s own caveats. As of October 21, 2026, UltraCode’s homepage promises a 100% guarantee that it cannot be detected and says it runs in a kernel-level layer. Its own FAQ narrows that to browser-based interviews, says no app is hidden from installed monitoring software with full system access (it names HackerRank Desktop), and bases the claim on Windows 11 or macOS 15.6 and later. We have not tested any of this and do not endorse it. Using it where the employer forbids AI can end your candidacy, and some employers publish their own rules on it. Check our companies that allow AI in interviews tracker and ask the recruiter when unsure.
- Privacy notes. It says it never saves photos or videos from your use but sends data to OpenAI and Anthropic. Its privacy policy (updated October 14, 2026) lists ad networks among third parties it may share personal information with.
UltraCode AI vs OphyAI
| Checked Oct 21, 2026 | UltraCode AI | OphyAI |
|---|---|---|
| Live coding help | Core product: screen or spoken question to explained code, system design, OOD | Coding Interview (Premium, 15 credits): screenshot the problem, get a streamed approach and code, live coding and system design |
| Other live rounds | Technical Q&A only | Interview Copilot: real-time answer suggestions on Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, live transcript, 35 languages |
| Practice | None | Interview Practice: voice or text mocks with follow-ups, transcript and per-answer feedback |
| Resume and applications | None | Resume Builder, Application Assistant (16 tools), free Application Tracker |
| Price | $799 one time; no monthly plan | Pro $29 a month; Premium $59 a month; annual Pro $278, Premium $566 |
| Free access | 2 questions, no card | First Copilot session up to 15 minutes for eligible new users, no card |
| Refunds | None, no exceptions | See pricing |
| Platform | Mac and Windows desktop app (macOS 13+, Windows 8+) | Web, plus Mac and Windows desktop apps; iPhone and Android apps for practice |
Where OphyAI is the better fit:
- Every round, not just coding. Interview Copilot covers recruiter and behavioral rounds live, and Interview Practice lets you rehearse them first.
- A small first bill. Premium is $59 for a month, and where offered a $9.99 Interview Pass covers one Standard Copilot session up to 2 hours (passes cover Interview Copilot only, not Coding Interview). UltraCode’s only paid option is $799.
- Desktop or browser. The OphyAI desktop app runs on Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel, signed and notarized by Apple) and Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) and Windows 11, 64-bit, from the download page. The web app needs no install. UltraCode’s lower minimums (macOS 13, Windows 8) are an edge for older machines.
On screen sharing: in OphyAI’s desktop app, the operating system excludes the live answer window from screen sharing and screen recording, so Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams do not show it. That does not hide it from a camera pointed at your screen, a person in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps, and in the web app what shows depends on your setup. Follow the employer’s rules.

How to Decide
- List your rounds. If everything left is coding and system design for months, UltraCode’s one price may suit you. If a behavioral or recruiter round is coming, OphyAI covers it.
- Price the risk. $799 with no refund is a big bet on 2 free questions. OphyAI’s free Copilot session and a $59 month cost less to find out.
- Read the Terms yourself. Ask UltraCode to confirm lifetime vs 365 days, and note its own disclosure clause.
- Check the rules. Read is using an interview copilot ethical or cheating and ask the recruiter what is allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is UltraCode AI legit?
It is a real paid desktop app with Terms of Service (last updated August 13, 2024), a privacy policy updated October 14, 2026, and a support address at team@ultracode.ai. Its homepage ratings, hire counts and offer letters are not independently sourced, and its Terms conflict with its lifetime wording, so judge it on the free trial and the written Terms.
How much does UltraCode AI cost?
On October 21, 2026, Lifetime access cost $799 as a one-time payment, shown against a “Normal Price” of $1,799. There is no monthly or annual plan, and no refund after purchase. Payments are in US dollars by card, with sales tax added where required.
Does UltraCode AI have a free trial?
Yes. The free trial needs no credit card and answers 2 questions of your choice. The vendor says it is “not meant to be used in interviews,” only to test quality, and that some advanced features are disabled in the trial. Run it on the same machine you would interview on.
Can I get a refund from UltraCode AI?
No. Its FAQ says all purchases are non-refundable, and its Terms say there are no exceptions, even if you have not used the service. Buying for an incompatible device does not qualify either, so check the minimums (macOS 13 or Windows 8, 8 GB RAM) and run the trial on the same machine first.
Does UltraCode AI work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. It is a desktop app for Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows. Its FAQ lists macOS 13 Ventura or Windows 8 as minimums and 8 GB of RAM, and recommends Windows 11 or macOS 15.6 for its newest features. One license covers one device; there is no Linux, web or phone version listed.
Is UltraCode AI better than OphyAI for coding interviews?
For a long coding-only search with heavy use, a $799 one-time price with no credits can cost less than OphyAI Premium at $59 a month over 14 months or more. OphyAI is the better fit when you also face behavioral rounds, want mock interviews and resume tools, or want a small first bill. Neither publishes an accuracy benchmark.
