What to Check Before You Install

Operating system minimums

OphyAI needs Windows 10 version 2004 or later or Windows 11 (64-bit), and runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Cluely does not support Windows 10 according to its help center. LockedIn AI and Final Round AI list Windows 10 or newer. If you are on an older Mac, Final Round AI lists macOS 11 as its minimum, though it says meeting audio capture needs macOS 14.4 or newer.

How the app hears the interviewer

OphyAI hears the interviewer through system audio, with no virtual audio cable. Parakeet AI says its desktop app needs a screen capture of a display (and macOS Screen Recording permission) to hear the call. Install and run a test call with a friend before the real interview.

What each vendor says about screen sharing

OphyAI’s live answer window is excluded from screen sharing and screen recording by the operating system, so Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams do not show it, even on a full-screen share. That does not hide it from a camera pointed at the screen, a person in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps. Cluely’s help center says it is visible to screen share by default and lists limits for Teams and Zoom. Final Round AI’s own FAQ says screen-capture protection is not a guarantee. No tool can promise anything about every platform, so check the employer’s rules first and read the tracker of employers and AI rules.

Where Each Competitor Is a Better Fit

Cluely suits you if you also want a notetaker for lectures, sales calls and meetings, not only interviews. It has an iPhone app that records, which OphyAI’s phone apps do not do for live interviews. See the Cluely review.

Parakeet AI has a generous free allowance of 10 sessions of up to 10 minutes each, useful for testing. See the Parakeet AI review.

LockedIn AI offers a free plan of unlimited 5-minute sessions up to 60 minutes a day, which suits very short tests. See the LockedIn AI review.

Final Round AI has interview debrief and screen help features alongside live sessions. See the Final Round AI review.

Where OphyAI Is a Better Fit

  • One account for the whole search. Interview Copilot for live Zoom, Teams and Google Meet interviews, Interview Practice for mock sessions, Resume Builder, Application Assistant, Job Search and the free Application Tracker.
  • A free first session. First session free for eligible new users, up to 15 minutes, no card.
  • Windows 10 support. Windows 10 version 2004 or later works.
  • Four layouts and hotkeys. Teleprompter, Panel, Split Desk and Q&A Feed, with Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Space to show or hide, +A to ask the AI now, +P for click-through and +H for panic hide.
  • Phone apps for the rest of the search. iPhone and Android apps for practice, resumes, cover letters, job search and tracking. They are not a live interview copilot.

Pricing Compared

OphyAI: Pro $29 a month with 300 credits and Premium $59 a month with 500 credits; a Standard Copilot session uses 15 credits, so Pro covers about 20 Standard sessions. Annual billing is 20% off ($278 and $566 a year). There is no $9 OphyAI plan; the Basic plan was retired in July 2026, so ignore older articles showing one. See OphyAI pricing.

Cluely, checked September 29, 2026: Pro $19.99 a month ($11.99 a month billed annually); the plan that includes screen-share hiding is Pro plus Undetectability at $149.99 a month ($44.99 a month billed annually). Final Round AI’s public plan prices differed between the page and its plans endpoint when checked, so verify on its site. For a full price table see the AI interview copilot pricing comparison and the comparisons hub.

How to Decide

  1. Check your computer first. Windows 10 users should skip any tool that requires Windows 11.
  2. Check the employer’s rules. Ask the recruiter whether AI assistance is allowed.
  3. Run a free test call with a friend on the exact setup you will use.
  4. Decide if you need more than live help. If you also need practice and resumes, one account is simpler.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best desktop AI interview assistant for Windows?

It depends on your version of Windows. OphyAI supports Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) and Windows 11, as do LockedIn AI and Final Round AI, while Cluely’s help center says it does not support Windows 10. Run a free test call on your own machine first, before you rely on any of them for a real interview.

Do desktop AI interview assistants work on Mac?

Yes. OphyAI runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and the other tools compared here also list macOS support, with differing minimum versions. Check each vendor’s requirements, and grant the screen recording or audio permissions the app asks for before your interview, so nothing surprises you on the day.

Can Zoom or Teams see a desktop interview assistant?

OphyAI’s answer window is excluded from screen sharing and recording by the operating system, so Zoom, Meet and Teams do not show it. That does not hide it from a camera, a person in the room or proctoring software. Other vendors state different limits, so read each one’s help pages.

Is it allowed to use AI in a live interview?

It depends on the employer. Some state rules on their own pages and some do not. Ask your recruiter and check the AI-in-interviews tracker. Many candidates use these tools for practice only, which avoids the question. Verify the details on each vendor’s own site before you pay, because terms change.

Are there free desktop AI interview assistants?

Several offer free access: OphyAI’s first Copilot session is free for eligible new users (up to 15 minutes, no card), Parakeet AI offers 10 short free sessions, LockedIn AI offers short daily free sessions, and Cluely has a free plan. Final Round AI lists no free trial for live sessions.

Does OphyAI have an iPhone or Android app?

Yes, for practice interviews, resumes, cover letters, job search and application tracking. The phone apps are not a live interview copilot; live help runs in the web app or the Mac and Windows desktop apps. Links are on the download page.
