Quick Answer and Verdict: Is Cluely Good for Job Interviews?

Cluely can give live answers during a job interview, and its Pro plan is cheap at $19.99 a month for unlimited AI responses, but it is a general meeting assistant, not a job-interview tool. Its own help center says Cluely “is for meeting assistance across sales, project briefs, and support,” and it lists no mock interview practice, resume tools or job-search features.

Who it fits: people who want one low-cost assistant for every kind of call (sales, lectures, client meetings) and only need live answers and notes. Who it does not fit: candidates running a job search, anyone on Windows 10, anyone interviewing in a language outside Cluely’s 6 audio-input languages, and anyone who wants practice feedback before the real call. For that group, OphyAI Interview Copilot plus Interview Practice is built for the job.

What Cluely Is

Cluely is an AI meeting assistant and notetaker. It runs as a native desktop app on Mac and Windows (not a browser extension), listens to your call, reads your screen, and gives live help when you press Cmd + Enter on Mac or Ctrl + Enter on Windows. It never joins the call as a bot. Its homepage says it is for “students, professionals, sales teams, recruiters, consultants, executives,” and its homepage FAQ says it “can help during interviews by listening to the conversation.”

DetailWhat Cluely’s own pages say
Live helpAssist (Cmd/Ctrl + Enter), “What should I say”, follow-up questions, recap and a chat bar
ContextThe conversation plus your screen (screen context is always used as of v1.89.0); custom instructions and files such as a resume
CodingSmart Mode adds coding help, reasoning and web search, about 8-20 seconds per answer on average
Meeting appsZoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex and Slack calls shown on its homepage
ComputersmacOS and Windows 11; no Windows 10 support
PhoneiPhone app (iOS 17.0 or later) for in-person recordings; it does not assist on phone calls or mobile video calls yet; no Android
Languages6 for audio input (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese) per its help center; its homepage says “over 12”

Cluely Pricing (Checked September 29, 2026)

Cluely pricing has a free Starter plan, two paid desktop plans and a separate iPhone plan. All prices are USD from cluely.com/pricing.

Other pricing facts:

  • No free trial of Pro and no one-time or per-session purchase is listed.
  • The App Store lists the iPhone plans as $7.99 weekly and $139.99 annual in-app purchases, slightly different from the pricing page.
  • Plans auto-renew at the then-current price. There are no pro-rata refunds, and there is no direct switch from monthly to annual billing.
  • Hiding from screen share moved to its own plan on October 22, 2025; only that plan and legacy Pro plans include it.

What Cluely Does Well

  • Low price for unlimited use. Pro is $19.99 a month, or $11.99 a month billed annually, with unlimited AI responses and notes. That is cheaper than OphyAI Pro at $29, and it is not metered.
  • A free plan that refills. Starter limits reset every 24 hours. OphyAI’s free credits are a one-time grant.
  • One tool for every meeting. Sales calls, lectures and client meetings too, so it stays useful after you land the job.
  • No bot on the call. It never joins meetings as a participant.
  • Screen-aware answers. Assist reads your screen too, and Smart Mode adds coding help and web search.

Limitations and Watch-Outs

  • Not built around interviews. The refund article (updated March 5, 2026) says Cluely “is for meeting assistance across sales, project briefs, and support” and lists “interview software detection/cheating use cases” as not refundable, pointing to a separate product, Interview Coder. The homepage FAQ, by contrast, says it can help during interviews.
  • No interview prep. No mock interviews, practice feedback, resume builder or job-application tools are listed.
  • Fewer spoken languages. The help center (November 5, 2025) lists 6 audio-input languages; its longer list of 21 covers meeting notes and action items only, not what Cluely can hear.
  • Hardware limits. Windows 11 only. The help center says macOS Ventura 13 and up (the download page says macOS 10.15), and no laptops with external webcams, custom gaming graphics cards or international VPNs.
  • Screen share costs extra. By default Cluely is visible to screen share. The hiding mode needs Pro + Undetectability ($149.99 a month), and the help center lists exceptions, including Microsoft Teams entire-screen share and FaceTime.
  • Tight refunds. The help center offers a 24-hour refund only when Cluely does not work on your computer, and excludes forgetting to cancel and plan changes. The terms-site policy (April 20, 2025) asks for video evidence and excludes Windows 10 computers.
  • Small support team. The help center says there is no dedicated support agent yet.
  • Weak public reviews. Trustpilot (third-party) showed a TrustScore of 1.7 from 22 reviews, 95% one-star, on September 29, 2026. The profile is unclaimed, and Trustpilot notes the company has not invited reviews, so they may not be representative.

To be fair, Cluely Pro is cheaper and unlimited, while OphyAI Pro’s 300 credits cover about 20 Standard Copilot sessions of up to 2 hours each. OphyAI makes no claim to be hidden on screen share; what others see depends on your sharing and recording setup. OphyAI has no $9 plan: the Basic plan was retired in July 2026, so pages showing a $9 Basic plan, Pro at $19 or Premium at $39 are out of date. Current plans are on the pricing page, and the full side-by-side is on our Cluely alternative page.

How to Decide

  1. Name the job. For work meetings, lectures and the odd interview, Cluely Pro at $19.99 is cheaper. For a job search, pick a tool built for interviews.
  2. Check your computer and language. Cluely does not support Windows 10, external webcams or spoken languages outside its 6.
  3. Count your interviews. One interview: a $9.99 OphyAI Interview Pass (where offered) costs less than a Cluely month. A busy month: OphyAI Pro covers about 20 Standard sessions.
  4. Practice first. Live help cannot fix a four-minute story. See AI interview coach vs AI interview copilot.
  5. Follow the employer’s rules. Ask the recruiter what is allowed. See is using an interview copilot ethical or cheating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cluely good for job interviews?

Cluely’s homepage says it can help during interviews. But it is a general meeting assistant: its help center says it “is for meeting assistance across sales, project briefs, and support,” and it has no mock interviews, resume tools or job-search features. It suits people who want one low-cost tool for all calls. Candidates who want practice and resume-based answers fit an interview-specific copilot better.

How much does Cluely cost?

On September 29, 2026, Cluely’s pricing page listed a free Starter plan, Pro at $19.99 a month ($11.99 a month billed annually, or $143.88 a year) and Pro + Undetectability at $149.99 a month ($44.99 a month billed annually, or $539.88 a year). The iPhone app costs $8 a week or $144 a year. Enterprise pricing is not published.

Is Cluely free?

Yes, Cluely has a free Starter plan with limited AI responses and meeting notes, plus up to 3 files. The limits reset every 24 hours, but Cluely does not publish the exact numbers. The free plan excludes unlimited AI chat, unlimited notes and the screen-share hiding mode. Cluely does not list a free trial of its paid plans.

Does Cluely give refunds?

Only in narrow cases. Cluely’s help center (updated March 5, 2026) offers a 24-hour refund when Cluely does not work on your computer because of system-level restrictions. Forgetting to cancel, changing plans and interview-software detection use cases are not refundable, and there are no pro-rata refunds. The help center says to expect a refund within 5-10 business days of the request.

Does Cluely work with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet?

Yes. Cluely’s homepage shows Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex and Slack calls. It runs as a desktop app on Mac or Windows 11 rather than inside the meeting, and it never joins as a bot. Its iPhone app does not assist on phone calls or mobile video calls yet, so live help needs a computer.

Does Cluely work on Windows 10?

No. Cluely’s help center says it “does not have support for Windows 10” and needs Windows 11 or macOS Ventura 13 and up (its download page says macOS 10.15). It also does not support laptops with external webcams, custom gaming graphics cards or international VPNs.

What is a better Cluely alternative for job interviews?

OphyAI Interview Copilot is built around interviews: it transcribes the interviewer’s questions and streams answer suggestions from your resume and the job description, in 35 languages, from the browser. It adds mock interview practice and resume tools. Pro costs $29 a month with 300 credits, and eligible new users get a first Standard session free for up to 15 minutes.

Can I use Cluely in a real job interview?

That depends on the employer, not the tool. Ask the recruiter what is allowed and follow the answer. Cluely’s own refund article lists “interview software detection/cheating use cases” as not refundable. Where live help is not allowed, use AI for mock interviews beforehand instead.
