AI Interview Helper Apps Compared: Web, Desktop, iPhone & Android

Which AI interview helper app fits which job: live help on web or desktop, practice and resumes on iPhone and Android. Platform-by-platform guide with limits.

Quick Answer

Pick the platform by the job you need done, not by the brand. Live help during a video interview belongs on a computer: the web app or the desktop app. Practice, resume work, cover letters, job search and tracking fit a phone. OphyAI covers all of these: web, Mac and Windows desktop apps, and iPhone and Android apps.

What Is an AI Interview Helper App?

An AI interview helper is software that helps you prepare for or get through an interview. The label covers three different jobs, and most confusion comes from mixing them up:

  1. Practice tools. Mock interviews with questions, follow-ups and feedback before the real thing.
  2. Live copilots. Tools that listen to the interviewer and suggest answers during the call.
  3. Job-search helpers. Resume builders, cover-letter writers, job search and application trackers.

Each job suits a different device. A live copilot needs to hear the call and sit next to the video window, so it belongs on the computer you interview on. Practice and job-search work happens anywhere, so a phone works well.

Web App: Nothing to Install

The web app at https://app.ophyai.com works in the browser with no install. For live interviews, suggestions appear in Whisper Mode, the browser overlay. This suits borrowed or locked-down computers where you cannot install software, and it is the fastest way to try a first session: eligible new users get a first Interview Copilot session free, up to 15 minutes, no card.

Limits. The screen-share statement below is about the desktop app only. For the browser overlay, check the employer’s rules before using it live.

Desktop App: Live Help During Calls

OphyAI’s desktop app runs on Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel, signed and notarized by Apple) and on Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) and Windows 11, 64-bit. The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows may show “Windows protected your PC”: choose More info, then Run anyway. The download page is ophyai.com/download and the feature page is ophyai.com/desktop-app.

What it adds for live use:

  • The live answer window is excluded from screen sharing and screen recording by the operating system, so Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams do not show it, even on a full-screen share.
  • It hears the interviewer through system audio, with no virtual audio cable.
  • Hotkeys: Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Space show or hide, Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+A ask AI now, Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+P click-through, Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+H panic hide.
  • Four layouts: Teleprompter, Panel, Split Desk and Q&A Feed.

Honest limits. Hiding the window from screen share does not hide it from a camera pointed at the screen, a person in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps. Check the employer’s rules before you use any live tool; the tracker of employers and their AI rules shows what employers have published, and can interviewers detect an AI copilot explains what is and is not visible.

The OphyAI iPhone app (iOS 15.1 or later) and Android app are for practice interviews, building and tailoring resumes, drafting cover letters, searching jobs and tracking applications. Get them on the App Store or Google Play.

They are not live interview copilots. A phone cannot sit beside a video call on your computer in a useful way, so live help runs in the web app or the desktop app. Use the phone for the moments in between: a 10-minute mock interview on a commute, a tweak to your resume after a recruiter email, a follow-up reminder.

Where Other Tools May Be a Better Fit

A single-purpose tool can be better when you need only one thing. If you only want to record yourself answering questions with no AI feedback, your phone’s camera is enough. If your employer or school provides its own mock interview platform, use it. If you need a human coach for a senior-level conversation, an AI helper does not replace that. When you compare vendors, check each one’s own pricing and platform pages, because platforms and plans change; see the AI interview copilot pricing comparison and the best desktop AI interview assistants.

Where OphyAI Is a Better Fit

OphyAI fits when you want one account across the whole job search:

  • Interview Copilot for live Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet interviews: real-time answer suggestions, a live transcript, Whisper Mode and 35 languages.
  • Interview Practice for voice or text mock interviews with follow-up questions, a transcript and per-answer feedback, in behavioral, technical, system design and case formats.
  • Coding Interview (Premium) for live coding and system design rounds.
  • Resume Builder, Application Assistant, Job Search and Application Tracker for everything before and after the interview.

Pricing at a Glance

PlanPriceCredits
Free$0First Interview Copilot session free for eligible new users, up to 15 minutes; Interview Practice free grant of 5 credits covers one session capped at 15 minutes
Pro$29/month ($278/year)300 credits
Premium$59/month ($566/year)500 credits

A Standard or Technical Copilot session uses 15 credits and an Advanced session uses 25, so Pro’s 300 credits cover about 20 Standard Copilot sessions. Interview Practice sessions use 10 credits on paid plans. Annual billing is 20% off. Where offered, a $9.99 Interview Pass covers one Standard Copilot session up to 2 hours ($19.99 for 3; passes cover Interview Copilot only). There is no $9 OphyAI plan: the Basic plan was retired in July 2026, so ignore older articles that show a $9 Basic plan. Full details are on the pricing page.

How to Decide

  1. Do you have a live interview this week? Install the desktop app or open the web app, and run a test call first.
  2. Is the interview proctored or locked down? Use no live tool and practice beforehand. Ask the recruiter about rules.
  3. Are you early in your search? Start with the phone app for practice and resumes.
  4. Do you want one tool for everything? Use one account across web, desktop and phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI interview helper app?

It depends on the job: live help during a video interview needs a computer app (web or desktop), while practice, resumes and job search work well on a phone. OphyAI covers all of them on one account. Match the tool to the task, and check each vendor’s own pages for current platforms and price.

Is there an AI interview helper app for iPhone or Android?

Yes. OphyAI has an iPhone app (iOS 15.1 or later) and an Android app for practice interviews, resumes, cover letters, job search and tracking. They are not live interview copilots; for live help during a call use the web app or the desktop app on your computer.

Can an AI interview app run on my phone during a live interview?

OphyAI’s phone apps are for practice and job-search tasks, not live help. Live suggestions run in the web app (Whisper Mode) or the Mac and Windows desktop apps. A phone beside your computer is also easy to notice on camera, so it is rarely a good setup.

Is the OphyAI desktop app hidden from screen sharing?

The live answer window is excluded from screen sharing and screen recording by the operating system, so Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams do not show it. That does not hide it from a camera pointed at the screen, a person in the room, or proctoring software that inspects running apps. Check the employer’s rules first.

Do I need to install anything to try it?

No. The web app at app.ophyai.com works in the browser with no install, and live suggestions appear in Whisper Mode, the browser overlay. Install the desktop app only if you want the separate answer window and the hotkeys on Mac or Windows.

Is it allowed to use an AI interview helper in a real interview?

It depends on the employer. Some forbid it, some allow it, and many have not said. Check the employer’s own candidate page and ask the recruiter. The tracker of employers and their AI rules summarizes published policies. Practicing with AI beforehand is generally safe.
